Commercial Analysis
The 2019 Mercedes Benz advertisement for its B-Class range is a captivating one. The main message of the commercial is ‘justify nothing’ to mean that people should do what they want without the need to explain themselves to others. The types of shots used in the commercial are mainly full shots with some close-up shots as well. When the woman hands the child to her father, the camera zooms in to the father’s face for a close-up shot. Most of the other shots in the commercial are full shots. At one point, the commercial shows an aerial view of the car in an extreme long shot. The audio in the ad is the sound of the woman’s father as he drives around in his new Mercedes B-Class. There is also some music in the background as h speaks, but which becomes louder when he stops talking.
The advertisement aired at 9 p.m on the TV. The product advertised in the new Mercedes B-Class manufactured by Mercedes Benz. The car being advertised in the 2019 Mercedes B-Class, which is the latest version after the 2014 model. The car is packaged as a car for every season in life that a person might be going through. The intended audience of the commercial is a general audience but specifically adults who already own cars. With the message ‘justify nothing’ the commercial urges potential buyers to stop justifying themselves when they do something special for themselves and others; therefore, they should get the new Benz without any justification. The sales approach used in the commercial is solution selling, which proves to be effective. The ad convinces the target audience that they can count on the Mercedes B-Class at all times even when things prove to be too much, and thus they should treat themselves to the new car.
